Elizabeth "Marie" (Parker) Barger, 78, of Crothersville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born Aug. 17, 1935, in Bedford, Va., she was the daughter of William Melvin (Cemo) Parker and Mary Alice (Farley) Parker. On Feb. 1, 1954, in Valdosta, Ga., she married Floyd Willard Barger.
Marie enjoyed quilting, her flower gardens and spending time with her family and friends. She was the world's greatest mother, wife and mother-in-law anyone could ask for. She enjoyed reading her Bible. She took pride in all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a very giving and faithful woman.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Floyd; four children, Floyd E. Barger, Austin, Mark W. (Donna Smallwood) Barger, Crothersville, Michael A. (Tina) Barger, Crothersville, and Matthew A. Barger, Crothersville; two sisters, Mary Jane Granger, Lutz, Fla., and Frances Bowling, Thaxton, Va.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Rose M. Barger and Patricia L. (Barger) Helt; and three siblings, Eunice Jennings, Stella Kirby and William Melvin Parker Jr.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Funeral Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison. Burial will follow at the Indiana Veterans Cemetery in Madison.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Disabled Veterans Wish Foundation of Indiana in care of the funeral home.
Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour has been entrusted with arrangements.
