Jimmy Dale Brady was born July 22, 1934 in Seneca, MO the son of Truman E. and Lena Bell (Holden) Brady. He was a member of the Grove Christian Church in Grove, OK.
Jimmy D. Brady started his military career with the U.S. Navy entering the Navy May 1953 and was discharged May 1957. He then joined the Air Force in February 1958 and retired from the Air Force March 1974. . During his military career he flew eight years with a total of about 3000 hours and 278 hours of combat time. Sgt. Brady spent tours in Vietnam, Japan, France, England, and several bases here in the states. Sgt. Brady earned various awards and decorations, which includes the distinguished flying cross, the air medal with five oak leaf clusters, the Air Force accommodation medal, Korean service medal, Vietnam service medal, unit citation with valor, National Defense and five good conduct ribbons and others. His D.F.C. award in part, Sgt. Brady distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a UHIN helicopter aerial gunner near Tieu Atar, Republic of Vietnam on August 15, 1971. On that date, Brady executed numerous firing passes at low level in support of a long range reconnaissance patrol which was under intense opposing automatic weapons fire deep in hostile territory. Sgt. Brady directed his ordnance with such accuracy and devastation, that the hostile forces were dispersed and the entire patrol was rescued. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sgt. Brady reflect great credit upon himself. (Seneca News Dispatch Mar 1974).
Jimmy married Imogene Dinwiddie March 23, 1991 and she survives.
Additional survivors include; two daughters, Gina Kitchens and husband Eddie, and Kim Brady all of Benton, AR; three step-sons, Larry Ellis, Eufaula, OK, Danny Ellis, Neosho, MO, and Terry Ellis, Tulsa, OK; two step-daughters, Brenda Manka and Robyn West both of Carthage, MO; one brother, Jerry Brady, Tulsa, OK; one sister, Bernice Brady Kelly, Seneca; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Jimmy was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack Brady, Bill Brady, Kenneth Brady and Francis Brady and two sisters, Muggy Malone and Wanda Montgomery.
Funeral services under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Seneca Christian Church with Truman Brady and Ed Kitchens officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with Teryl Malone, Feryl Malone, Doug Malone, Jason Montgomery, Jack Brady and Kenny Kelly serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm Wednesday at the Seneca Christian Church.
