Helen Bessler, 97, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014. She was born July 7, 1916 in Cheviot, Ohio, daughter of the late Carl and Marie Sommer.

Helen was a member of the St Lawrence Parish; a Dearborn County Hospital Auxiliary volunteer for more than twenty five years; a member of RSVP; Greendale 15 Club; and The Golden Age. She was an avid reader and expert quilter.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Alice Peterson of Lawrenceburg, IN, Sharon (Bart) Bartleson of Georgetown, TX; son, Tom (Denise) Bessler of Salem, IN; 8 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 1 step great grandchild

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; son, Jerry; son-in-law, Pete Peterson; grandson, Michael Bessler; and grandson, Jim Bartleson.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 10am to 11am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Funeral services will follow at 11am, with Father Peter Gallagher officiating.

Interment will be in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana.
