Edward Burritt Dead
Edward Burritt, aged 67, died at the family home, 17 Green street, Ashley, yesterday morning at 1:10, following five months' illness of complications.
Mr. Burritt was born in White Haven and moved to Sugar Notch with his parents when but a boy, and was employed on the L. V. R. R. for many years as an engineer and was widely known among the railroad men. He retired from the railroad about fifteen years ago on account of ill health.
Mr. Burritt with his family moved to Ashley many years ago and is well known here. He was a member of the Centenary Methodist church. Besides his widow he leaves the following children: Mrs. John Bailey, Ashley; John and George Buritt; Mrs. William Kaufer, Harry Burritt, Mrs. Edwards Hughes of Wilkes-Barre; Calvin Burritt of East End, and Edward Burritt of Ashley. Mr. Burritt was known on the railroad as "Birdie" and has a wide circle of friends who will mourn his demise.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock with services at the home. Rev. W. K Crawford, pastor of the Centenary M. E. church, and Rev. P. W. Brown will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in Maple Hill cemetery.
