Married Margaret Zaun on April 19, 1924. They raised 5 children: Inez (Peterson), Marcyne (Pederson), Eugene, Dallas, and Allen.
Jim was a local auctioneer for a number of years. He also represented the Dazey area as county commissioner for several terms. He passed away September 18, 1969.
