Anna R. Gifford, 93, of Bradley, passed away Friday (Feb. 28, 2014) at her home. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bradley, where she was a member. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kankakee. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to St. Joseph School in Bradley.

Mrs. Gifford was a custodian at Bradley High School for 30 years, retiring in 1986. She was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Bradley, the daughter of Charles and Anna Jamnik Ponikvar. Her husband, Chester D. Gifford, whom she married Nov. 26, 1937, in Kentland, Ind., passed away April 19, 1963. She was a former member of the Daughters of Isabella at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. She was the best baker in the world. She enjoyed being with her family and loved her "grands."

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Anna Gifford, of Bourbonnais; three daughters and one son-in-law, Margie Burch, of Bourbonnais, Linda Bellmore, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Debbie and Larry Null, of St. Anne; nine grandchildren, Becke (Mike) Boudreau, Betsy (Tim) Wilken, Rodney (Cindy) Burch, Laura (Brad) Weddington, Angela (Nathan) Pauli, Trisha (Lupe) Gaytan, Michael Lovell, Maria (Nathanial) Rood and Philip Gifford; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis Gifford; grandson, Tommy Lovell; son-in-law, Jim Burch; sister, Molly Dressler; and five brothers, Charles, Albert, Louis, Willie and Ray Ponikvar.
