He was born on July 18, 1957 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to George and Georgia Johnson. Cleotis served his country proudly, starting an early career in the U.S. Navy.
After military service, Cleotis enrolled in the Los Angeles Electrical Joint Apprenticeship School, graduating in July 1992. Shortly after he moved to Champaign, he was employed for a few years with Bodine Electric.
Cleotis leaves to mourn his loss his wife for more than 35 years, Althea Johnson; one son, Omar Johnson; father, George Johnson (Alean); three sisters, Shirley Richardson (Earnest), Linda White and Carolyn Campbell (Morris); two brothers, Mark Johnson and Hezzie Johnson Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews and other close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Johnson, and five brothers, Theotis Johnson, George Johnson Jr., Jerome Johnson, Robert Johnson and Garret Johnson.
