Elbert L. Ruebush was the son of Hubert Harold Ruebush and Sarah Pauline Nauss. He was educated in the Deming Public School system. He joined the United States Army on March 25, 1940. He served in the South Pacific Theatre in the Philippines. He was a member of the 200th Coast Artillery, Battery A and achieved the rank of T/Sgt. He became a prisoner of war and was held at Hoten POW Camp (Mukden) Manchuria 42-123, Japan. His death date of January 14, 1943 was on July 10, 1943
