Andrew Jackson Callaway, died at his home four miles east of Williamsburg, Missouri on Nov 3, 1897. He had been suffering for several weeks of that dread disease consumption. He was a grandson of Captain James Callaway, from whom the county of Callaway derived its name. Mr Callaway was past sixty years old and has lived a consistent and consecrated christian life for many years. He was a member of the Methodist Church until about nine years ago, when he united with the Loutre Baptist Church. He was married twice, first to Miss Martin and the second time to Miss Susan Hudnall, who survives him. He was a quiet and unassuming man and remained conscious until the very last, speaking of death with complacency. He said he had no fear whatever, but felt perfectly resigned and anxious to go. "He rests from his labors and his works do follow him". May his many friends imitate his example of piety, and as he, be ready when the summons comes. R.W. Hunley

Montgomery County Missouri Obituary Records.

Note* Marriage and census records indicate that Andrew Jackson Callaway's parents were Thomas Howell Callaway and Patience Keel (?). They were married in St. Charles County, Missouri on November 16, 1826.
