Deanna (Moore) Howard, 68, of Sweet Home died Monday in her home.

She was born in Lead, S.D., the third child of Frank and Irma (Fenner) Moore. Her parents divorced a few years later.

Irma then married Robert Wright, and they lived in Los Angeles during World War II to work in a defense plant. They moved to Lebanon in 1944, and Deanna attended Queen Anne School and graduated from Lebanon Union High School in 1955.

She married Marvin Dean Howard in January 1956. They had six children and divorced in 1971. In 1979, Deanna and the two youngest children moved to Sparks, Nev. She worked eight years as a retail clerk. She then worked as a floral designer at a florist after moving to Carson City, NV.

In 1992, she moved back to Lebanon area to be near her children. She lived with her son, Jeff, in Scio for six years. In 2001, she moved to Sweet Home to be near her daughter, Julie, and family. Her hobbies and interests (besides children and grandchildren) were traveling, sightseeing, reading, crossword puzzles, gardening and raising too many houseplants. She very much enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren and having reunions with classmates.

She touched the lives of so many. She was very fond of our “king-sized” family. It’s very important that we express how special grandma Lila Howard Larsen was to her as well as countless others. Deanna will be greatly missed. We will all see her again.

She is survived by sons Jamie of Alsea, Jeffrey of Scio, Jay of Lebanon and Jody of Albany; daughter Julie Van Epps of Sweet Home; sister Beverly (Moore) Ward; brother Dennis Wright of Salem; 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by infant daughter JoDean, mother Irma Wright, and father Frank Moore.

All family and friends are invited to a celebration of Deanna’s life (potluck) at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Jeff’s home in Scio. Contact Jay at 451-3414, 367-8563 or (503) 394-2609 for directions.
