Harry was the son of Harry and Verna [Miller] Dam of Kalamazoo and the brother of Irene [Henry] Longjohn of Mattawan.

On November 22, 1945, he married Evelyn L. (Kelly) Dam (b. 02/11/1924) who survived him and moved to Melbourne, FL after she retired.

They had six children together who are as follows:

Gary Dam of Homested FL
Kathy White of Kalamazoo
Linda Munson of Kalamazoo
Susanne Burgess of Grand Rapids
Kelly Marie Dam of Grand Rapids MI.

He had twelve grandchildren at the time of his passing.

Harry worked for the Eaton Mfg. Co. for 27 years before he retired in 1983. He was a member and junior Deacon of the Cooper Lodge No. 149, F&AM and the Wickwire Chapter No. 57, O.E.S. and the Masonic Retiree's Club of the Kalamazoo County Area. Harry took up oil painting on canvas after he retired. He created wall paintings to be given to all of his adult children in remembrance of him. They were presented to them at his funeral dinner which was held in their home at 1423 Hensen St. He passed away from a sudden heart attack at Borgess Medical Center at the age of 64. Harry had been a life time resident of the Kalamazoo area. May he rest in peace.
