Sgt. Denis J. Gallardo of St. Petersburg, Florida was 11 years old when he came to the United States, where he graduated from Clearwater High School and then joined the Army. Javier loved the Army and the United States. In just 3 years he made Sergent and he loved the fact that he was Airborne qualified. When he was buried he was awarded the Bronze Star. He died at age 22 from a non-combat-related illness in Tal Afar, Iraq.
