A 1963 graduate of Westbrook HS. He was proud of the fact the he was an all state football and basketball player during his junior and senior seasons at Westbrook.Richard graduated from the University of Maine in 1967. He earned an MBA from the Whittemore School of Business in 1977. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1967 to 1971. After his military service, he went to work of Great West Life in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He moved to Concord in 1972, going to work for Chubb Life America, eventually finishing his career as Assistant Vice-President of Underwriting. He retired from Chubb Life America in 1997.Richard enjoyed coaching sports, coaching both little league and youth league basketball. He also coached the Rundlett Middle School boys' basketball team for several years, and enjoyed watching players he coached later playing basketball for Concord High School.
