At an early age, Curtis Ray accepted Christ while attending the Miracle Revival Center under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. Don M. Laster. As a child and youth, he loved to sing God's praises. He would sing and sing and then sing some more until he got happy. The music of the church has always found its place in his heart. During his illness, he worshipped at the Ark of Safety Holiness Church under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Floyd & Missionary JoAnn Yow.
Curtis Ray's earthly journey ended on Sunday, May 18, 2014.
Curtis Ray Barber was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Barber; and his brother, Dewayne Jones; his grandmothers, Annie Mae King and Malissa Adams and two nephews, Darrell Bernard Miller and Minister Kelvin Hodges.
Curtis Ray Barber leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Fannie Louise Barber; his four sisters, LaVaughn Berry, Alma Ruth Easley, Pastor Shirley Jones Johnson, and Missionary Jo Ann Miller Yow; two brothers; Jesse James Jones and Charles Rainey Jones; two brother-in-laws, Rev. Gerald Johnson and Bishop Floyd W. Yow; one sister-in-law, Jackie Jones; one aunt, Emma Pearl Wheeler; a special niece, Missionary Mary Yow Woods and a host of nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews and a plethora of cousins to cherish his memories.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11 am at the Ark of Safety Holiness Church (Dallas, Texas) with Bishop Floyd W. Yow delivering the eulogy and Elder Ronnie Miller Yow officiating.
