Clifford Earl Gothard, 99 of Stockton joined his heavenly father early Sunday morning at the Lena Living Center, May 25th 2014. Born to Orin and Pearl (Coppernoll) Gothard on October 4th, 1914 in Pleasant Valley(Stockton) he was one of 13 children. Clifford was a farmer in Northern Illinois before becoming a Technical Sergeant during WWII. He was stationed in the South Pacific where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. After the war he came back to Illinois and married Thelma Leone Willis, and worked for the Stockton School District as a bus driver along with working for the US Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife Thelma who he married in 1946. Along with his wife he is survived by his three daughters Louise Elaine (Patrick) Flannery of Freeport. Dawn Leslie (Michael) Henry of McLean, IL, Dianne Linda Eberle-Rosine of Freport. Clifford was a Devoted Grandfather to Michelle Nicholson (Eric) Behymer, Jennifer Nicholson (Eric) Wernet, Robin (Zybra) Nicholson, Sgt. Anna Henry (Christopher) Leverenz, Sean (Jennifer) Henry, Bryan Henry, Matthew Henry, Virginia Henry, Miles Eberle, and Alyson Eberle. And was a loving Great Grandfather to Alex, Joseph, Marco, Gabrielle, Miranda, Athen, Daniel, and Norah. He is also survived by his brothers Leon & Gene and his sister Helen (Marshall) Rabb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Edward, Thelma, Maynard, Marvin, Elizabeth, Ethel, Anna, Ruby, and baby boy. He was a long time member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Plum River Masonic Lodge in Stockton. And in his later life he enjoyed dividing his time between Stockton and a home in Truth or Consequences New Mexico.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton, Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Wesley United Methodist Church with burial in Morseville Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
