Mrs. Harvey F. Stein, 85, nee Dora Sauer of Fredericksburg died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002 at Knopp Healthcare and Rehab Center.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m., in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating. Marilyn Jenkins was the organist and Dr. Rollie Blondeau, the vocalist. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Stein was born on Jan. 4, 1917 at Doss, the daughter of Henry Sauer and Anna Anderegg Sauer. She married Harvey Frank Stein on Oct. 2, 1938 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Doss and he preceded her in death.
She attended Texas Lutheran College for two years and held a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from the University of Texas at Austin.
She was a retired teacher, served as organist at both St. Peter Lutheran Church and Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and did volunteer work in numerous church, school and civic organizations, taught Sunday school, was a Girl Scout leader and held a life membership in the Parent Teacher Association.
She is survived by a daughter, Clementina Greenburg of San Antonio; a sister-in-law, Marie Sauer and a brother-in-law and his wife, J.D. and Gerrie Stein, all of Fredericksburg.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Greenburg; three brothers and two sisters, John Sauer, Paul Sauer, Emil Sauer, Olga Kothe and Erna Pluenneke.
Beckmann Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
