Katheran Ann (Kat) Heallen, 68, of Galveston, passed away Thursday, June 09, 2011, in Alvin, Texas. She was born December 21, 1942, in Orange, Texas, to Walter and Cordelia Brady. Growing up, Kathy was a student athlete, and she was most especially fond of basketball. She worked for Texaco Travel Center and then in newspaper sales for 25 years, spending most of that time with the Angleton Times and the Alvin Sun. Kathy loved to travel, and she and her husband spent many happy times touring all over the United States as well as visiting Europe, South America, Canada, Mexico, Antarctica, and numerous other destinations. Most of all, Kathy was a kind and loving wife and mother who will be deeply missed.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Heallen; daughter, Major Angela Hope Gooch and husband, Lt. Col. Damon Gooch, both US Army; stepsons, Robert Lloyd Heallen and wife, Nancy; and David Vance Heallen and wife, Tracey; grandchildren: Timothy, Kimberly, and Megan Heallen; sisters, Lillie Rhoads and husband, Benny; Bertha Brady; and Fay Stromseth; brothers, Robert Brady and wife, Cheryl; and Charles Brady and wife, Sidsel; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 15th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, in Galveston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Gulf Coast Region, P O Box 570127, Houston, TX 77257-0127.
