American Revolution Brigadier General. Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, he served in the Continental Army during the American Revolution and achieved the rank of Brigadier General. He was also an accomplished Pennsylvania lawyer. He died in Washington, D.C. and was buried in the Old Presbyterian Cemetery in that city. Later he was removed, re-buried Arlington National Cemetery, on May 12, 1892 and is the oldest person buried in Arlington in terms of date of birth.
