Dillard Russell Ames was the son of Walter Leslie and Maggie Lee (Wiseman) Ames. He married Jewel Storey - 22 Feb 1946 - Madison Co., Alabama.

His Obituary:

Mr. Dillard Ames, 91, of New Market, died on Saturday evening at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was a hard-worker and was a carpenter before he retired and helped to build many of the houses in Hazel Green and Meridianville. He enjoyed looking for arrowheads in the fields around this area. He was of the Jehovah's Witness belief.

He is survived by his wife, Jewel Ames, with whom he had recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. His sons: Randy Ames and Jeffery Ames; His daughter: Janice Ames Brown and her husband, Paul. His grandchildren: Monica Askew, Leticia Stiles, Marquita Rodgers, & Rodney Brown. His great-grandchildren: Marissa Askew, Sierra Arguelo, Selena Vasques; He is also survived by his brother, Walton Ames of Lancaster, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Ames Holder, His daughter, Jeannie Ames Rodgers, & his son, John Lee Ames.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 9pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2pm at the funeral home with George Waid officiating. Burial will follow in Cochran Cemetery on Cemetery Street in New Market.
