R. Jason White, merchant of Seymour, Mo., is a son of Moses and Amanda
J. (Freeman) White, both of whom were born in Tennessee. They were
married in Wright county, Mo., and have since been engaged in farming
in that county. R. Jason White, whose name heads this sketch, grew to
manhood in Wright county, and at the age of twenty years began clerking
in a drug store in Hartville, and in 1881 came from that town to Marsh-
field, and followed the same occupation in that place for some time. In
February, 1884, he came to Seymour, and for four years was a clerk in
the general mercantile establishment of S. C. Trimble, and at the end
of that time engaged in the general grocery business, which is proving
quite a success. He was married in Webster county, on the 11th of
October, 1885, to Frona Goss, a daughter of Jacob Goss, of Webster
county. She was born, reared and educated in the county, and is the
mother of two children, Charles H. and Verba. She is a member of the
Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. White served as a member of the town
board in 1887, and was town treasurer in 1886.
