Earl was born in Schuyler County Feb. 13, 1890, the son of Logan and Nola Robeson Settles. He married Alma Parker at Rushville Feb. 17, 1910, and she survives.
A retired farmer, he was a member of the First Methodist Church in Rushville.
Besides his widow, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fairy (Freeman) Leezer of Ashland, Faye Settles of Rushville and Mrs. Freida (Orville) Trone of Rushville; one son, Paul (Lois) Settles of Lewistown; a brother, Manford Settles of Industry; one sister, Mrs. Frank Goodin of Abingdon; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister died previously.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville. Burial was in Rushville Cemetery.
