Michael was living with his father and a
brother when he enlisted in the Marines 13
February 1968,at a Minneapolis Recruiting
Office.
Arriving in Vietnam 31 July 1968 Michael was
assigned to Golf Company,2nd Battalion,1st
Marine Regiment,1st Marine Division.
Golf Company was on a patrol when Michael
became ill and died as a result of a heat
stroke,7 kilometers north northeast of Dien
Ban before he could be med-evac.
Survived by his father,Fred W Dunkel Jr and
a brother Fred D Dunkel of 813 Minneapolis
