Opal Barnes Rees

Opal Barnes Rees, 58, Nevada, died Saturday, Feb. 9, at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

She was born March 3, 1921 in Tipton, Ia., to Harry and Lorena Burgess Barnes and graduated from Ames High School in 1939.

She had lived in Nevada since 1945 and was employed by the Iowa State College food service department for the past several years. She retired in October of 1979.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Lorena Barnes of Ames; one daughter, Kathleen Rees of Nevada; three brothers, R.L. "Rolly" Barnes of Ames, Harry Barnes of Clinton and Royal Barnes of Ellsworth.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry E. Barnes, in 1965.

The funeral will be Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 1:30 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada. Rev. Mark Weteland will officiate. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery.
