Lois V. Wallace of Surprise, Arizona passed away on December 17, 2017 under hospice care at her assisted living home in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Lois was born in Pope, Mississippi on November 26, 1923 to her late parents Lois M. Vick, an early female graduate of the University of Mississippi, and Samuel B. Vick, a major league baseball player with the New York Yankees from 1917- 1920 and the Boston Red Sox until 1922.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Wallace, a Certified Public Accountant who owned his own accounting firm in Paris, Tennessee and was active in a number of professional and charity organizations.

Lois is survived by her son, Dr. Robert C. Wallace (Julie) and daughter Roanne Wallace, both of Phoenix, and two grandchildren, Kellie Nick (Chandler) and Robert F. Wallace of Phoenix.

Lois was a graduate of Mississippi State College for Women and received an MS degree in home economics from the University of Tennessee with specialties in textiles and clothing, child development, and related art. Prior to raising children, Lois taught on college and high school levels. Lois was an advocate of early childhood education and through her work with local school superintendents, principals, teachers, and librarians and with help from the U.S. Department of Education, she founded an organization in Paris, Tennessee to help advance early education. Lois also authored articles on early childhood education appearing in Tennessee and Arizona newspapers. Lois was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Paris, Tennessee and following her move to the Valley in 1999, joined Desert Palms Presbyterian Church in Sun City. Lois resided in Surprise, Arizona until she moved to assisted living in 2016.

A memorial service will be held for Lois at 2:00 pm on January 6, 2018 in the Chapel of Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, Arizona 85253. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in her name to Barrow Neurological Foundation, 350 West Thomas Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85013, made online at www.supportbarrow.org/donate, or by calling 602-406-3041.
