ROANOKE--Mr Lee Andrew "Punch" Ware 67, of Roanoke died Monday, Jan. 1, 1996, at LaFayette Extended Care Nursing Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Roanoke with the Rev. Lathonia J. Wright officiating. Burial will follow in East Roanoke Cemetery
Mr. Ware is survived by several cousins, Mrs . Melvinnie Johnson,
Earnest Heard Jr., Mrs. Phyllis McCray, Debbie Johnson, Tracy Johnson, Kenneth Johnson and Derrick Johnson, all of Roanoke, Willie R. Boyckins of Chatttanooga, Tenn., Perry Johnson of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Johnnie Mae McCoy of Smith Station.
A native of Randolph County, Mr. Ware was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke.
The family will receive friends Wednesday until 6 p ..m. at Clark Memorial Funeral Home in Roanoke and may be contacted at the home of Melvinne Johnson, 211 Jackson St.
The body will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Clark Memorial Funeral Services in Roanoke is handling arrangements.

ROANOKE, AL -- Lee Andrew Ware, 67, of Roanoke, known to many as "Punch", died Monday, January 1, 1996, in LaFayette Extended Care Nursing Home, LaFayette, after an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Ware will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 1993 at First Baptist Church, Riley Street, Roanoke, with Rev Lathonia Wright officiating. Burial will be in East Roanoke Cemetery.
Punch was born in Randolph County to the late Juanita Ware McCurtis in 1928. He spent a lot of time at Vinson's Red & White, where he would often help customers carry groceries. Always ready to be helpful, he had a friendly face for everyone. Punch joined First Baptist Church at an early age. Having been without parents for many years, he loved his cousins dearly and thought of them as his primary family.
Survivors include several special cousins who assisted in caring for him:
Mrs. Melvinnie Johnson, Earnest Heard Jr., Mrs. Phyllis McCray and Debbie, Tracy, Kenneth and Derrick Johnson of Roanoke, Willie R. Boykins of Chattanooga, TN, Perry Johnson of Akron, OH and Mrs. Johnnie Mae McCory of Smith Station.
Visitation will be at Clark Memorial Funeral Parlor on Wednesday, January 3, 1996 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the service on Thursday.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Ms. Melvinnie Johnson, 211 Jackson St., Roanoke.
