age 94, of Dalton, died March 13, 2012, at Brewster Parke Nursing Home in Brewster following a period of declining health. She was born on July 24, 1917, in Waseca, Minn., the daughter of D. Earl and Grayce (Vroman) Rohn. She was united in marriage to Paul R. Simon on March 24, 1934. He died Feb. 10, 1993. She was a graduate of Beach City High School. Elizabeth had been the vice president and accountant for 53 years for Paul Simon & Son Trucking Company, which was co-owned by Paul and Elizabeth. Elizabeth was a previous member of the Orrville Area Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors, previous member of the Faithful Friends of the West Lebanon Methodist Church, and a member and previous president of the Paint Twp. P.T.A. She established the Paul R. and Elizabeth C. Simon Scholarship at Dalton High School. She was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church. Elizabeth enjoyed dancing, country music, ceramics, swimming, and cooking Thanksgiving dinner. She enjoyed spending time with friends and drinking coffee at the former Bliss Cafe in Dalton. Elizabeth will be remembered for her motherly instinct to her family and community. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Richard P. Simon of New Philadelphia, Ohio; grandchildren, Kim (Brad) Bumpus, Kevin (Mary Alice) Simon, Richard (Shelly) Walter and Erik (Melissa) Walter; and great-grandchildren, Kyrie, Keegan, Luke, Hannah, Noah and Isaiah. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley J. Walter; brothers, Leo and George Rohn; and devoted companion, John P. Kaylor.
Funeral services will be held at Auble Funeral Home, 512 E. Oak St., Orrville, on Monday, March 19, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul Farren officiating. Burial will take place at the Dalton Cemetery.
