Final rites were held in the Schaetter Funeral Home on Monday, May 12, 1952 at 2:00 p. m. for John Wolfgang Braeutigam. The Rev. O. Lindenberg officiated Schaetter's duet sang two sons at the funeral home. Interment was in the City Cemetery.
Braeutigam, a former merchant of Fredericksburg and lately employed at Schroeder Dry Goods here succumbed on Saturday, May 10, at 5:50 p. m. in a local hospital. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 62 years, 7 months and 21 days.
He was born on September 19, 1889, in Gillespie County, the son of Otto H. and Minna Stoffers Brautigam. On March 6, 1943 he married Mamie Schaper.
Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters H. Woodrow Braeutigam, Dallas; Adah, Mrs. W. T. Binford, Dallas; Vernell, Mrs. Gordon S. Mitchell, Van Nuys, Calif.; J. W. Jr., of Houston; Richard in U. S. Navy in Japan; step daughter, Margaret, Mrs. Harvey Klaerner, San Antonio and 11 grandchildren.
Other survivors include brothers and sisters Alma, Mrs. Benno Luckenbach, Luckenbach, Texas; Mrs. Minna Wood, Houston; Felix, Fritz and Otto L. Jr. of Fredericksburg; Alice, Mrs. Paul Sauer, Doss; Charlie, Oakland, Calif.; Erna, Mrs. Edgar Crenwelge and Annie Braeutigam of Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by one sister, Emma, Mrs. Monroe Wahl.
