Curtis M. Ewing, 61, of 1987 Kok Road, Lynden, died Thursday in a Bellingham hospital.


He was born April 24, 1920 in Lake City, SD, and moved to Whatcom County in 1944. He married Helen Ernst on Nov 28, 1945 in Bellingham. He was a member of Lynden United Methodist Church. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Albers Feed Store in Lynden.


A World War II Army veteran, he remained active in the Army Reserve until he retired as a major in 1980. During his service, he graduated from several military defense training schools. He was a member of Reserve Officers Association of the United States; Steven Holmes Morrison Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lynde; the American Legion post at Sumas; Loyal Order of Camels, Lynden, and Teamsters Local 231.


He is survived by his wife, three sons, three grandchildren, his mother, three brothers and numerous other relatives.


Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at Lynden United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home.
