Carilyn Faye (Wade) Smallwood
Carilyn was born in Caldwell, along with her beloved twin sister Marilyn, to Richard and Dana Wade. She had many carefree days growing up in Sunny Slope among the orchards and vineyards.
She graduated from Vallivue High School in 1964, going on to pursue a nursing career. In 1968, Carilyn married Doyle Smallwood. They had two sons, Bill (1969) and Paul (1971).
In 1974 she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She remained a dedicated servant of Jehovah until the end, sharing the preaching work until three days before she died.
She had a gypsy spirit, having lived in numerous states and two continents, winding up in the Philippines. She spent her last year enjoying her grandchildren there. She died in her sleep on July 29, 2008, in Sibulan, Philippines.
She is preceded in death by her father Richard. She is survived by her mother, Dana; sisters, Roberta, Judy, Marilyn and Lynn; brothers, Rick, Chuck, Dempsey, Russell and Robert; sons, Bill (Patty), Paul (Dorothy); grandchildren, Chastity, Terris, Jon, Damon, Rod, Hazel and Sabrina, with one more on its way; six great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and friends.
A memorial will be held for her at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 114 E. Elm St., Caldwell. All are invited. Potluck dinner follows at the Caldwell American Legion Hall.
