Rachel King "Queen" Dickson Mullin died August 19, 1955, at her daughter's home in Towaco, NJ.
She was born to Alexander King Dickson, Sr. (1842-1893) and Ellen Wright Dickson (1848-1902) on March 4, 1890, in Philadelphia. Rachel was one of seven siblings: Byron Wright Dickson (b. 1875); Alexander King Dickson, Jr (b. 1877); Ellen Dickson (1878-1882), Helen Dickson Megargee (b. 1881) (wife of George); Margaretta "Meta" Dickson Baker (1883-1952) (wife of Charles), and Franklin Wright Dickson (1988-1918); but after her father's death when she was three, followed by her mother's death when she was twelve, she was taken in and raised by her older sister Helen.
Rachel was a housewife for all of her married life. Her late husband Alexander C. Mullin III, whom she married on February 10, 1912, died in 1943. A talented singer and piano player, she was an active member of the Aldan New Century Women's Club and a faithful church member at Aldan Union Church where she participated in numerous church entertainments. She did needlework, played cards and knew a number of varieties of solitaire.
For most of her last eight years, she resided with her oldest son and his family. Survived by daughter Margaretta Mullin Stoughton (husband Dwight Stoughton) of Towaco, NJ; son Alexander C. Mullin IV (wife Jane Tuppeny Mullin) of Gradyville, PA, son Byron D. Mullin (wife Marian Schick Mullin) of Harrisburg, PA, loving sister-in-law Dora Beam of Drexel Hill, PA and favorite nephew Dick Baker of Harvey Cedars, NJ. Mrs. Mullin has ten grandchildren.
