Shawnee resident Benjamin Lawrence, 82, died Monday, Jan. 2, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
Lawrence was born October 4, 1923 in Green Forrest, Ark.

He was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Green Forrest, Ark.

On September 26, 1958 he married Betty Jean Winters. He lived in Wagoner and Oklahoma City before settling in Shawnee.

Benjamin served in the U.S. Marines from 1942 to 1945. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base and Bethel Fire Department. He was a carpenter, a member of Dale Baptist Church, and a member of the American Legion.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lawrence, of the home; children and their spouses, Tom and Carolyn Winters of Shawnee, Barbara Childers of Shawnee, Judy and Wayne Burrows of Wagoner, Roger and Linda Lawrence of Wagoner, Keith and Kathy Lawrence of Muskogee, Ron and Gina Anderson of Shawnee, Mike and Becky Brown of Shawnee; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Doug Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
