Lela was preceded in death by her parents, Sommers and Runnie Minton Rutter, her husband, Hugh J. Harris, and ten brothers and sisters.
Lela is survived by one sister, Sarah Maxine Walters and husband Bob, one daughter, Jane Blackwell and husband Paul, four sons, Manuel Harris and wife Paula, Bryant Harris and wife Sherrie, Daniel Harris and wife Wanda, Richard Harris and wife Sandy, granddaughters Jennifer Nienast and husband James, and Amiee Harris, grandson Dustin (Josh) Harris, one great-grandson, Hunter Harris, and several nieces and nephews.
Lela Harris was saved at the age of twelve at Gum Hill Baptist Church in the Benhams community. Lela, known as ‘Aunt Sue,' preached her funeral with her life. She was a caregiver and a mother to people too numerous to mention. Her life and character can best be described with one word: others.
Funeral services will be held at 6 pm, Saturday, May 24, 2014 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with her son Rev. Daniel J. Harris and Brother George Salyers officiating.
The interment will be held at 1:30 pm, Sunday at Glenwood Cemetery with Brother Terry McClain officiating.
Pallbearers will be Paul Blackwell, Manuel Harris, Bryant Harris, Richard Harris, Dustin Harris, Hunter Harris, and James Nienast.
Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
