Born in North Platte, NE on April 27, 1946, he was a son of the late John Nicholas and Wilma Bailey Hawley. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and worked as a Physician's Assistant.
Surviving, are his wife, Ellen G. Hawley of the home; two sons, Sean N. Hawley of Walstonburg, Christopher H. Hawley of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Richard Hawley of Bolivia, Michael Hawley of Spruce Pine; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro. Funeral services will be 12:30 pm Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Duke ALS Clinic; 932 Morreene Road; Durham, NC 27705.
