Joan G. Chapman, 90, of Bealeton, passed peacefully Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at home.
She was born on Oct. 20, 1923, in Bryn Mawr, Pa., to the late John B. and Pleasy Angeline Gulley.
Mrs. Chapman grew up in Elkwood graduated in 1941 rom Brandy High School in Culpeper County.
She is survived by three daughters, Olive C. Forrest of Culpeper, Sarah A. Nappier of Inwood, W.Va., and Jan C. Ingram of Severna Park, Md.; two sons, Claude E. Chapman Jr. of Bealeton and David R. Chapman of Elkwood; six grandchildren, Kelly Forrest Robson, Alex Chapman, Sarah Ellis, David Chapman, Jessica Ingram and Claudia Ingram, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, C. Edwin Chapman; a brother, John Gulley, and a sister, Jean Kerns.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bealeton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice and/or the Lois Volunteer Fire Department.
