Johann and Michael are apparently brothers, not the same man, see the 1956 book on the family by Henry H Catron
It was also common for German families to use the same middle name for their children, which also adds to the confusion, so it is possible that Michael and other siblings all had Johann in their name, but for clarity, at the moment I'm going to remove the Johann. - J Chandler

I don't think the 1757 marriage to Maria Ehrgott, nor the son George born IN GERMANY in 1769, have anything to do with this Michael Kettenring. This Michael was already in America by then. And that George's father is Johann Valentine Kettenring
