Eleanor Clara (Weddelman) Meyer, 81, of Napoleon, Ohio died Monday, May 12, 2014 at Napoleon Lutheran Home. She was born April 3, 1933 in Florida, Ohio to the late Henry & Ida (Baden) Weddelman. On June 5, 1955 she married Walter Meyer at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Florida, who preceded her in death on December 6, 2009.
Elly graduated from Defiance College and worked as an elementary teacher for Holgate, Ohio from 1953-1955, Albion, Indiana from 1955-1957, Florida, Ohio from 1961-1968, and CD Brilhardt in Napoleon, Ohio from 1968-1991. She was a member of Henry County Retired Teachers and Henry County Community Concert Association for many years.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, where she taught Sunday school, was a choir member, and was the LWML Stamp Lady.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann (Pastor Allen) Werk of Batavia, New York; grandsons, Philip Werk of Los Angeles, Samuel Werk of Chicago; sister, Alvina Hahn of Venice, Florida, brothers, Albert (Bette) Weddelman of Florida, Ohio, Paul (Tootie) Weddelman of Hamilton, Indiana, and brother-in-law, Charles Griffith of Napoleon.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Kathryn Boyd and Lois Griffith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20th at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Interment will follow at the Florida Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
Memorials can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School or Henry County Retired Teachers Foundation Lois Griffith Book Grant.
