Wilhelmina C. "Sissy" Johnson, 84, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Hanover Hospital, Hanover, Kansas.

A rosary service was at 7 p.m., Friday, May 23 at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover.

Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m., Saturday, May 24, at St. John's Catholic Church. Fr. David Metz officiated. Janet Fritschi was the organist and Amy Collier sang "Be Not Afraid." The church choir sang "How Great Thou Art", "Jerusalem My Destiny" and "On Eagles Wings."

The pallbearers were Jamie Cole, Scott Wieden, Rusty Johnson, Nic Youngers, Mitchell Shepherd and Michael Schlabach.

The honorary pallbearers were Jesse Stohs, Jordan Johnson, Brian Schlabach and Jeff Schlabach.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Wilhelmina "Sissy" was born July 23, 1929 at Hanover, Kansas, to Joseph and Ida (Schwartz) Poell. She attended St. John's Grade School and graduated from Hanover High School. On May 7, 1951, she married Harold D. Johnson at Hanover.

Sissy was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She loved to cook, sew, watch birds and raise a garden. Sissy loved kids and spending time with family. She played the piano and sang. She worked at Perry Packing, Sam's and the Omaha World Herald newspaper with her husband for many years.

Survivors include her children, Debra (Darrell) Schlabach, Linda (Dan) Wieden, Amy (Kelly) Stohs all of Hanover, Trudy (Jim) Cole, Mark (Dene') Johnson, both of Washington, and Christy (Cliff) Dipman, Manhattan; sister, Grace Riepen, Hanover: twenty-one grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harold, on June 14, 1998; brothers, Wilfred Poell, Joseph Poell II, Gilbert "Box" Poell, and twin brother, William Poell; and sisters, Eulalia Poell and Irene Lang.

A memorial fund has been established to the church. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary.
