Ada resident Raymond Nunez Ortega, 70, died Monday, Dec. 26, at his home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1935, in Haskell, Texas, to Manuel M. and Catarina Nunez Ortega.

Ortega attended school in Munday, Texas. He moved from Shawnee to the Ada area in 1994.

On July 28, 1954, he married Patricia R. Haase in Fort Worth, Texas.

He owned and operated Ortega's Security and Investigations and was a former employee for Pottawatomie County Sherriff's Department.

Ortega served in the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army and the National Guard of Oklahoma and Texas.

Ortega was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a fifth-grade CCD Religion Teacher for three years, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Pontotoc County Literacy Council, fourth degree knight and grandknight of the Knights of Columbus.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Pedro Ortega and Nicolas Ortega.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ortega, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and David Short of Shawnee, and Dawn and Darrell Blocker of Tecumseh; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Glenda Ortega of Shawnee; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Ozuna of Del Rey, Calif.

Pall bearers will be members of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church Knights of Columbus.

Wake service will be 7 p.m. today at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Ada. Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Rusty Hewes officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home.

The family says all three locations of the House of Health in Ada and Shawnee, owned by Mrs. Ortega, will be closed Thursday to allow employees to attend the service.
