80 year old Billy Joe Ayers of Dowelltown passed away Thursday morning at NHC of Smithville. He was a farmer and a faithful member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday, May 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dry Creek Baptist Church. Bro. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-6 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. at Dry Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Callie Moore Ayers; a sister, Willie Jim Cripps; two brothers, Edward and Charles Ayers; a brother-in-law, Carl Cripps; and a nephew, Gary Wayne Cripps. Survivors include two nephews, Dwight Cripps of the Dry Creek community and Jerald and wife Lisa Cripps of Liberty. One niece, Wanda Cripps of Mount Juliet. Six great nieces and nephews, Angela Royalty and Paul Tubbs both of Lebanon, Matthew and wife Melody Cripps of Murfreesboro, Jordan and wife Nicole Cripps of Dowelltown, Justin and wife Tiffany Cripps, Tina and husband David Pedigo, and Tammy and husband Carl Tyler all of Smithville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dry Creek Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Ayers.
