Mrs. Elsie Babcock Cook, 79, of 101 Kossuth St., died Saturday afternoon in the Rome Nursing Home where she had been a patient since June.

Mrs. Cook was born in North Otselic, Madison County, on June 22, 1888, daughter of the late Charles A. and Anna Burdick Babcock.

On December 28, 1922, in Syracuse, she was married to J. Howard Cook, who died in Rome on March 29, 1959. Mrs. Cook lived in Syracuse at the time of her marriage and prior to that in Hamilton.

Mr. and Mrs. Cook lived in Syracuse for a short time and then moved to Lee Center. They came to Rome about 38 years ago.
Mrs. Cook was a member of the First Methodist Church of Rome and the Bethany Class of that Church. She was one of the oldest members of Lake Delta Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George H. (Anna Ruth) Fox, Utica, and two grandchildren, Gary Howard Fox, a student at the State Unitversity College at Oswego, and Susan Lynda Fox, Utica. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Raymond Tracy, Syracuse, and a brother, Harry G. Babcock of Hamilton.
