Donald E. Bateman was born March 22, 1926 on the family farm near Attica, Kansas, son of Allen and Beulah (Price) Bateman. On May 21, 2014, Don passed away at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 29 days.

He graduated from Attica High School.

On August 6, 1944, Don was united in marriage with Mildred Faye Trotter at the United Brethren Parsonage in Attica, Kansas.

They were both lifelong residents of Attica.

Don farmed, worked at the creamery in Attica, and the Magnolia Gas Plant before becoming the Attica City Superintendent.

He was a member of the Attica Masonic Lodge.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and recently attended the Attica Christian Church.

Don loved woodworking, golf and gardening.

He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred on November 11, 2004, and one sister, Betty Grigsby.

Don will be deeply missed by his daughters: Karen Lear and husband, Stan of Hutchinson, and Cathy Becker and husband, Robert of Belton, TX; 5 grandchildren: Heidi Wolfenberger and husband, Karl, Jyl Albrecht and husband, Carl, Jennifer Epp and husband, Rob, Stacie Lowry and husband, Sam, Dayna Twyman and husband, Mike; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; brother, Kenneth Bateman and wife, Jackie of Merridian, Idaho; sister-in-law, Wilma Bateman of Colorado Springs, CO; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
