Judy M. Higgins, 74, of 500 Beaverdam Rd., passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Golden Living Center. Miss Higgins was born January 29, 1940 in Buncombe County. She was a graduate of AC Reynolds High School and continued her education at Blanton's Business College, where she completed a secretarial course of instruction. She was a loving daughter, sister and devoted aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Creasman Higgins and Auburn Grey Higgins, Jr., and by brother Kenneth Higgins. She is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Joyce Roper and husband Winfred of Seneca, SC, and Ms. Janet Stewart of Asheville, NC, and their families. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at New Salem Cemetery in Skyland, NC. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
