Ruth J. Strickland, 75, of Panama City, FL went home to be with the Lord Mon, Apr 28, 2014. On Apr 12, 1939, God blessed the world with a baby girl by the name of Rruth Jeanetta Lemmons. Her father, Daniel, was a Nazarene pastor and her mother, Irene, was a homemaker. She was one of nine children; Paul, John, Phyllis, Jimmy, David, Danny Ray (deceased), Daneen and Philip-stillborn. Her first date was with Billy Loy Strickland. They married on Oct 12, 1957, and traveled with the military. They had 2 children, John Wade Strickland and Pamela Strickland-Landingham (Danny Landingham). Ruth thoroughly enjoyed being a homemaker and retired civil service. She was known as Nanny to her granddaughters, Sheri Strickland and Christina Melvin; great-granddaughter, Jenna Jackson; and her great-great-grandson Talen.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Fri, May 2, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home of Panama City, FL. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Sat, May 3, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Tees officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
