Blacksburg, S.C. - Joanne Montgomery Turner, 69, of 601 Tribal Road, passed away May 20th, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Cleveland County, she was the wife of Steve Turner and the daughter of the late Mackie J.D. "Jake" Montgomery and Margie Montgomery.

Mrs. Turner retired as a mail carrier and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Joanne was a giving and loving person who loved working with children in the Blacksburg area. She showed her love for children by working as an active volunteer for the S.C. Junior Miss program for forty-four years and and by serving as co-president of the Blacksburg Booster Club for 12 years. She also loved camping and traveling.

In addition to her husband are two daughters, Joey Crawford and husband, Doug, and Debbie Duffie and husband, Dean, all of Blacksburg; two brothers, Chip Montgomery and Chuck Montgomery and wife, Pam, all of Blacksburg; four grandchildren, Chase Crawford and wife, Tracy, Whitney Millwood, Cameron Duffie and wife, Hanna, and Cody Duffie and wife, Erica; and three great-grandchildren, Paislie Duffie, Carleigh Millwood, and Cade Crawford.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 22nd, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Bolin officiating. Interment will follow at Grover Cemetery.

Steve Moss, Mickey Rhea, Jackie Rhea, Bobby Fulton, Charles Wray, and Daryl Sanders will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Youth or Building Fund, 511 Old Chester Road, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.

The family will be at the residence.
