Karen (Seder) James, age 77, of Modesto, California, was born February 2, 1936 and died January 1, 2014 at her home.
Mrs. James was a native of Turlock, California and a graduate of Turlock High School class of 1953, and of Modesto Junior College in 1955.
She married Larry Gilboy in 1956 and they had one daughter together. They lived in Ohio. In 1965, she and her daughter moved back to the Modesto area after the marriage ended. In 1966 she married Ed James.
Karen worked for Allstate Insurance as a claims adjustor for three years and for Stanislaus County Assessors Office for twenty-three years, retiring in 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Brandow of Mi Wuk Village, California; and step-sons, Jim L. James and Dale James of Modesto; sister-in-law, Elisabeth Lemp of Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. James in 2003; and her brother, Harold Seder in 2009; and her grandson Ian A. Brandow in 2011.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel Modesto, 4300 American Avenue, on Monday, January 13th at 11am.
