CAMPBELL, Mary Jean
was born August 7, 1936, in Pasadena, California, the only child of David E. and Florienne E. (Curry) Anderson. She died January 9, 2006, near her home in Valyermo. She is survived by her life companion, Wayne Wengren, daughter Patricia Anne and Stephen Glenn Cimmarusti, sons, James Richard and Deborah Louise Campbell, Keith Albert and Cynthia Marie Campbell, ex-husband James Roy Campbell, and six grandchildren: Stephanie Anne Cimmarusti, Nicholas Lee Cimmarusti, Chelsea Ann Campbell, Bailey Christine Turczak, Mitchell Douglas Turczak and Madison Mary Campbell. She was preceded in death by her son Barton Patrick Campbell in 1959. (She is also survived by her cats, Charlie, Lil' Bro and Mokie Dickens.) Mary was raised in South Pasadena, moved to Garden Grove, and
attended Matter Dei High School. She married in August 1955, started her family in Canoga Park, and raised them in Temple City. In the 1930's her father homesteaded the property in Valyermo known as "Harmony Haven Homestead". She grew up spending weekends and holidays there, as have her children and grandchildren. In 1985, she made the "homestead" her permanent residence. She worked in and retired from Keppel Union School District as a teacher's aide and a librarian. She was an active member of the Juniper Hills Junibees and a book club simply known as Book Club at Diana's. The things she enjoyed most in life were her family, her cats, her friends, feeding and watching the wild birds, the local desert flora and fauna, reading, writing, crafting, Bunco and American Indian archeology. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday January 14, 2006, at Chapel of the Valley Mortuary, 1755 East Ave. R, Palmdale. Viewing is open prior from 9 to 10 a.m. Following the services at the chapel there will be a procession and Graveside services at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 2200 E. Ave. S, Palmdale. A celebration of her life will follow at Harmony Haven Homestead, Mary's home
