WALTER BORTZ

Hall proprietor, died at about five o’clock Tuesday morning in his room at the hotel. His death was due to uraemic poisoning, which disease had caused him to be confined to bed since last Friday. No one was with him when death came. At 4:30 in the morning, the porter of the hotel had been in the room to see whether all was well and when he again came to the room to see whether everything was right, which was some time after 5 o’clock, he found Mr. Bortz dead. The diseased was well known as a bartender throughout this vicinity, having total wed this occupation all his life. For the time he conducted a hotel in Emmaus, he was about forty-five years of age.
He was born in Macungie, and was he son of Mr. and Mrs. Benneville Bortz. His wife died twelve years ago. Besides his father there survive two brothers, Robert of Emmaus, and Uriah, the butcher at Macungie. Two sisters, also of Macungie, survive. Mr. Bortz was a member of Allentown Aerle, No.110, F.O.E.; Allentown Post, No 72, Order of Owls; Allentown lodge No 128, Order of Moose and of the Bartender’s union.
