Patsy Roark Hudson, 75, of Bristol, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 19, 2014, after an extended illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Brady L. Hudson Sr.; as well as sons, Dr. B. Lee Hudson Jr. and wife, Suzanne, of Tallahassee, Florida, and Mark Alan Hudson and wife, Renee, of Bristol, Tennessee. Mrs. Hudson leaves her five grandchildren, Sarah Hudson James and husband, John James IV, of Cumming Georgia, Michelle and Rebekah Hudson, of Tallahassee, Florida, and Zachary and Kelsey Hudson, of Bristol, Tennessee; and two great grandchildren, Katie and John James V ("Quint") of Cumming, Georgia. She is survived by her sister, Anne Waddell, and husband, Larry, of Christiansburg, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her parents, Newton J. and Edith Fleenor Roark; as well as her infant twin sons, Jeffery Charles and Joseph Cleve Hudson. Mrs. Hudson graduated from Virginia High School in Bristol, Virginia, and attended classes at Abingdon School of Nursing and Virginia Intermont College. She was retired, having worked at the Bristol Herald Courier for many years. Mrs. Hudson belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church and served as Church Pianist for over 30 years. Prior to her illness, Mrs. Hudson was active in the Trinity United Methodist Church's Women's Circle. She was also active in the community and served on the Abuse Alternatives Board of Directors. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving and compassionate care she received in her final weeks from the staff of Wellmont's Home Hospice services, as well as Aid and Assist home care providers. The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Akard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zachary Hudson, Bob Sharp, Don Hunnigan, Clayton Wilson, David Miller and Lynn Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Trinity United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church, 320 Carter St., Bristol, VA 24201 or Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steele's Rd., Bristol, TN 37620.
