Thaddeus Hott Schroyer, well-known farmer of Middletown Valley was found dead in a small stream on his farm along Route 40 north of Middletown Friday afternoon about 4:15 o'clock. The county medical examiner issued a verdict of death by accidental drowning.

Schroyer, who was born on January 23, 1879, was en route from his farm house to pasture land to drive in his cattle when he apparently stumbled and fell down into a small pool of water about a foot deep in the stream.

An employee on the farm, Charles Moser, discovered the body. The family said Schroyer had been in ill health for some time. State Trooper R. A. Myers also investigated.

A highly respected resident of Middletown Valley, he was born at Myersville, a son of the late Lewis and Delliah Pryor Schroyer and spent his entire life in the valley.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Oda C. Schroyer; these children , Mrs. Harry U. Leatherman, near Middletown; Herman H. Schoyer and Mrs. Earl R. Kepler, Middletown, and Maurice J. Schroyer, at home: Miss Flora E. Schroyer, Upper Marlboro; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Davis L. Schroyer, Pleasant Walk.

Friends may call at the late residence. Funeral services will be held there at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Interment will be in the United Brethren cemetery, Myersville. Paul F. Bittle, funeral director.
