PORT ORANGE, Fla. -- Ruth Christian Murff, 85, resident of 798 Sugar House Drive, widow of Fred L. Murff, died Oct. 27, 2009 in Port Orange.
Born in Thomasville, NC, Jan. 17, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Omer and Merle Smith Christian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenwood. Formerly of Greenwood, she had made her home in Port Orange since November 2006.
Surviving are a daughter, Joan M. and husband Thomas Burnett, with whom she made her home in Port Orange; a son, Fred L. Murff III and wife Donna of Port Orange; four sisters, Virginia Seigler of Clinton, SC, Charlotte Erneston of Greenwood, SC, Peggy Minor of Athens, GA, and Linda Tolbert of Newnan, GA; two brothers, Jerry Smith of Danielsville, GA, Freddie Joe Smith of Commerce, GA; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.She was predeceased by a brother Donald Christian.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 Friday afternoon.
